Who is Icon Oncology?
Icon Oncology is a South African healthcare company with specialist business divisions including Icon Radiotherapy, Icon Chemotherapy and Icon Managed Care.
Our purpose is to give cancer patients the best opportunity to live healthier lives. To deliver on this promise, we combine decades of clinical expertise, research, cutting-edge technology, big data and managed healthcare experience to deliver the best possible care to our patients.
We call this value-based care, and it is designed to reduce unnecessary costs and wastage of our patient’s medical aid benefits.
Icon Oncology’s research has proved that value-based care can reduce oncology costs without compromising on the quality of care and clinical outcomes for our patients.
In fact, the value-based care model and Icon Oncology’s e-Auth® pre-authorisation system ensure that more patients can receive immediate access to life-saving treatments.
Value-based care puts our patients at the centre of their treatment by surrounding them with a network of oncology-focused professionals, programmes, facilities and medical schemes. This ensures that they receive the right care, at the right time and at the right price.
Icon Oncology Services
Icon has 28 accredited radiotherapy facilities with 32 state-of-the-art linear accelerators (linacs) across South Africa, and some partner facilities in Africa.
Caring for our patients in these facilities are nearly 300 expert clinical oncology-focused professionals, dedicated to providing quality, cost-effective care to you.
We also have 22 satellite units, and 3 haematology units, equipping us to ensure you get the right treatment.
Icon Oncology is the leading value-based and care-driven organisation in South Africa. In an environment of escalating healthcare costs that disadvantage the majority of patients, many cancer patients are still not gaining access to quality cancer treatment fast enough. Our business model puts the patient at the centre of care, reduces wastage and costs and improves outcomes.
Since its inception, Icon Oncology Holdings and its subsidiaries, Icon Radiotherapy, Icon Chemotherapy and Icon Managed Care have pioneered the move to value-based care (VBC) in cancer treatment on the African continent.
