Clinical Head: Icon Managed Care

Description / Purpose of role

Icon Oncology is a South African-based healthcare company offering oncology-related clinical, administrative, infrastructure, operational, and strategic business management services to aligned oncology practices across South Africa. Icon Managed Care, a division of Icon Oncology, is a managed care organisation registered with the Council of Medical Schemes, providing disease, risk, and network management services to more than 40 medical schemes. The company serves over 80% of South Africa’s private practice oncologists (161 members) and accredits 28 oncology centres with 33 linear accelerators and 77 infusional centres.

Purpose: The new position is responsible for leading the clinical operations of Icon Managed Care. Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, this role involves overseeing a team of oncology case managers, ensuring the effective delivery of clinical services, and embedding value-based care principles across the organization. The incumbent will provide clinical support, manage treatment plan evaluations, and act as a key liaison between providers and medical schemes, while also contributing to the ongoing development and updating of clinical protocols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12
  • 3 years + experience in facility management, and Finance
  • Strong administration skills, including use of Excel
  • Good communication skills
  • English and one other official language essential
  • Attention to detail and timekeeping
  • Driver’s licence and own car
  • Ability to work overtime as required
